The Associate Editor is responsible for maintaining and updating the ESPNNewYork.com site. This position requires someone who can work nights and some weekends. The editor will work closely with senior editors and writers on the staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the ESPNNewYork.com index page during night shifts.
  • Edit and publish columns, features, news stories and blogs about New York's professional and college sports teams.
  • Produce compelling cover-story packages for the index page.
  • Maintain and update event-driven index pages, such as the playoffs and NFL draft.
  • Work closely with Bristol-based news editors and senior editors in charge of Page 1 and sports fronts.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must have minimum 2 years in editing/journalism and knowledge of AP style.
  • Strong knowledge of professional and college sports.
  • Ability to produce in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across ESPN platforms.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of New York sports scene.
  • Familiarity with most major Internet search engines, social media and fluency in electronic newsgathering techniques, including quickly navigating the Internet.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in Journalism, Communications, English or a related field.
Required Education
  • 4-year college degree.
