The Bioinformatics Core is seeking a Scientific Coordinator to work closely with its Director coordinating the Core’s daily operations, as well as its strategic planning and outreach programs. This individual will serve as a liaison between the Bioinformatics Core and MSKCC faculty, tri-institutional faculty and members of the broader scientific community. This individual will plan outreach and training programs/workshops/courses that are tailored to the needs of the scientific community, as well as assume a leadership role in writing grant applications and progress reports. In addition, this individual will participate in the development of the Core’s long term strategy, manage ongoing projects, develop budget plans, allocate resources, promote and recruit personnel, and be the point person for all inquiries pertaining to the Core.
The ideal candidate is someone who is excited by facilitating scientific discovery and collaborations amongst inter-disciplinary teams. The position requires broad scientific knowledge, e.g., in computational biology, systems biology, genomics or cancer research, as well as strong administrative, managerial, communication and networking skills.
