Stellant Systems is seeking a full-time, 100% onsite Material Handler at our Torrance, CA site. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.
Performs various material processing operations, including material handling, work order expediting through multiple work centers, closing out work orders, elevating production constraints, troubleshooting work stoppages, and filling kit shortages. Enters transactions and revises or updates bills of material in computerized business systems. Works in a team environment to continuously improve work processes.
Endorses compliance activities such as security, housekeeping, environmental, fire and emergency, hazardous waste, calibration, shelf-life certification, and workplace and product safety. Typical duties include:
Determines, according to documentation, where materials should be routed.- Maintains accurate records of materials, from time of receipt until final disposition.
- Accurately and efficiently enters information and parts transactions into computerized business systems to accomplish tasks.
- Safely handles hazardous materials, ensuring that all articles are packaged, labeled and handled in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
- Expedites the flow of shop orders, material requisitions and similar documents for assigned departments or projects. Follows up on shortages of parts, materials, tools, equipment and assemblies and initiates corrective action by contacting appropriate personnel.
- May coordinate the priorities of orders and resolve problems requiring additional information or clarification of assembly, fabrication or processing instructions or other requirements.
- Performs accurate unit of measure conversion calculations.
- Performs clerical and manual functions as required.
- Meets necessary certification standards as required.
- Enters work order completion data into business systems, including tasks such as revising or updating bills of material and entering backflush transactions to reflect specific parts used during production. Performs necessary research to obtain information needed.
- Maintains lot traceability and performs line inventory reconciliation.
- Provides instruction, familiarization and guidance in job functions or tasks to other employees as needed, regardless of their classification or labor grade.
- May be required to move parts, materials, and products throughout the facility in the course of efficiently performing assembly, fabrication, inspection, testing or documentation tasks.
- Performs incidental related duties as assigned or required.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a warehouse or production setting working with raw material, mechanical items, and sensitive electronic components.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Strong computer skills including Word and Excel.
- Warehousing systems experience required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Experience working in an aerospace type environment, handling very sensitive and expensive components and materials required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems is needed (Infor LN experience is a plus).
- Must be able to maintain accurate records and perform clerical functions as required.
- Requires a high degree of attention to detail to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ability to adhere to documented procedures and accurately read routine reports and correspondence is needed.
- Must be able to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- The ability to respond to internal customers’ needs and support their production schedules is necessary.
- Clean room experience is a plus.
