Job Summary: The Admissions Application Reader reviews and evaluates various application types for the University of Alabama's competitive awarding process.

Additional Department Summary: The Admission Application Reader is a seasonal position responsible for the holistic review of applications to determine eligibility for admission to UA. The reader is required to read at a pace that allows for the completion of targeted file numbers. Readers must be available between the months of September through January and is expected to commit to a variety of hours (20-40 hours per week preferred) during peak application season. This is a remote/virtual position. Admission Application Readers must attend virtual training sessions and be able to meet virtually with supervisor as needed.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Candidate must have personal access to computer system and internet to retrieve and review online applications.

Skills and Knowledge: Advanced knowledge in the usage of personal computers. Strong ability to manage time independently. Able to review and rank an application in 3 minutes. High attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of discretion and confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. All applications are read online. The candidate must have a recent computer (preferably fewer than 5 years old) with a reliable, high-speed internet connection and access to a private and secure location to work. Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality of applications; materials cannot be copied, published, or posted and individual cases cannot be discussed with anyone outside of Enrollment Management.

Preferred Qualifications: Well-developed computer skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new technology. Preferred candidates should be familiar with software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, Slate CRM, experience working with diverse young adult and youth populations, and previous application review and admissions experience. Preferred candidate will not be a parent/guardian of a high school student. Preferred candidate will not currently work with high school students, including high school guidance counselors and independent consultants, or are employees at another undergraduate institution.
