The Office of Product Development is seeking a Business Analyst to support overall product strategy, development and coordination for new and emerging product features of technology platforms that support the! needs of students with disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to leverage his or her diverse skill set to develop and continuously improve systems and products. The Business Analyst will report to the Director of Product Development. The Business Analyst will support each stage of the product lifecycle including tasks such as product roadmap, requirements gathering, design, and implementation.
Analysis and design of tools/products - Works closely with business owners to:
Quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of project
Identify user goals and objectives
Develop business cases
Draft business and functional requirements for project deliverables, including wireframes, data requirements, application functionality, and prototypes
Communicates user requirements to key stakeholders and assists in prioritization of product enhancements and defect resolution with business owners !
Execution of product development (building and testin! g product, developing and delivering training and product roll-out)
Tracks user goals as they are translated into functional requirements to ensure product meets customer goals/needs
Tracks project success metrics (deliverable and milestones) against actual deliverables and timeline
Develops and maintains a detailed work plan(s) with input from project stakeholders and the Director of Product Development to inform/update a larger project plan for product development
Leads team members associated with specific project work stream(s) and ensures that work activities are coordinated across individual work streams
Monitors progress of work stream(s) against associated milestones/deliverables on an ongoing basis in order to anticipate and identify obstacles/risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions as needed
Reports on progress of work stream(s) to Director of Product Development to inform a ! larger project plan on a weekly basis.
Work stream activities include:
Responsible for the effective flow of information between team members and core project team members
Collects/receives input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately applies comments/feedback.
Communicates and applies project standards
Requirements:Successful candidates should have:
Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals, establish priorities, organize resources, analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions
Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with education and non-education personnel internal and external to the DOE
Ability to organize and present analysis in a clear, concise and logical manner, both orally and in writing, to education audiences and all levels in the organization
Experience in large-scale t! echnology products and systems implementations including business analy! sis, detailed business, functional and technical requirements, use cases, and issue tracking
Strong project management skills, as applied to the software development life cycle or Agile method
Proficient use of Microsoft office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project)
Ability to thrive in and enjoy working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
Attentive to detail, extremely well-organized, able to work under pressure and meet frequent and changing deadlines
Domain knowledge or experience in using educational technologies and/or achievement reporting tools
