Pratt Institute seeks a Director of Education Abroad who has the skills and experience to enhance and expand the Institute's international education initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Provost, the Director oversees the Office of International Education.
Position Duties
Major responsibilities include:
Management of existing study abroad programs and student exchanges: Coordinate and successfully manage existing study abroad and student exchange programs. Work closely with program di! rectors and various academic and administrative offices to ens! ure that the administrative aspects of the education abroad experience function efficiently and effectively.
Support for creation and implementation of new programs: Work with faculty, administration, and external constituencies in developing, approving, and implementing new international study abroad and exchange programs. Provide support during the approval process on budget development, advisement, recruitment, orientation programming, etc.
Policy development and implementation: Develop, implement, refine, and monitor exemplary education abroad policies and procedures for study abroad, exchanges, and affiliations.
International Partnerships: Provide support to senior leadership in establishing and maintaining collaborations with international colleges and universities. Coordinate and facilitate international articulation agreements.
Strategic planning: Provide support to the academic leadership in developing and implementing an! education abroad strategic plan.
Office Management: Oversee all responsibilities of the Office of Education Abroad and manage budget and office activities.
Experience and Qualifications
A Master’s degree with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in education abroad. A minimum of two years of leadership experience is required. Graduate work in International Education, International Affairs, International Development or related fields is preferred.
The successful candidate will have:
Knowledge of best practices in education abroad and successful record in education abroad program creation, development and implementation.
Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Hands on experience with budgeting, planning, and scheduling. Attention to detail and proficiency of relevant software, such as Excel, are a must.
Ability to work collab! oratively and effectively with a broad range of constituents, including! faculty, staff, students, parents, and overseas partners to achieve institutional goals.
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing.
PREFFERED:
Significant experience living, studying, and/or working abroad.
Culturally sensitive, flexible, independent, innovative, and reliable.
Fluency in a language other than English.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering global perspectives.
A track record of active participation in professional organizations (e.g. Forum on Education Abroad, NAFSA).
