Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs or her designee, the Student Life Specialist for Student Success Outreach and Programming is responsible for providing leadership and implementing a comprehensive, cross-departmental plan for student success consistent with the college's strategic plan.
The Student Life Specialist for Student Success Outreach and Programming works effectively within a team to:
Manage existing student support cohort programs, including probation and high achieving students.
Implement and assesses co-curricular initiatives that support these students.
Develops innovative student support strategies to connect cohort members with outreach services and resources.
Verify the enrollment, transfer and graduation status of students in cohort programs and conducts completion-focused outreach.
Plan and implement large scale cohort events and effectively manage the budgets for these events.
Accurately document student contacts using the divisionâs CRM system.
Analyze data to identify problems and trends and use this information to develop student outreach and support strategies.
Implement consistent and effective assessment practices to evaluate thE areaâs programs, activities and outreach strategies.
Synthesize program data for reporting to management each semester.
Participate in teams engaging in additional outreach for special initiatives and projects for the Division of Student Affairs.
Receive referrals to assist students facing immediate barriers to student success, and makes recommendations to help students overcome those barriers.
Collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs, Office of Academic Affairs, and other key offices to ensure the coordination of services.
Serve as a campus liaison for various external programs and initiatives.
Assist the division on campus-wide assessment projects.
Participate on committees in areas of retention and graduation rates.
Provide assistance with major college-wide events such as commencement, orientation, registration, and honors convocation.
Participate in campus-wide student outreach and support activities.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW:
Develops and implements programming, services, and learning opportunities for students, promoting the personal development of a diverse student population.
Administers one or more student affairs programs, providing program management, assistance with policy development, supervision and training of all professional and support staff, budget monitoring, and report preparation
Serves as a resource to student groups and/or populations as a consultant and advocate for their concerns
Researches and stays current on higher education programs, trends, and issues with student impact
Produces workshops and materials to support student programs; manages on-line communities; develops on-line social networking activities, and develops and maintains multimedia content on program web sites
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Master's degree in student personnel administration, higher education, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of best practices in student success program implementation with an emphasis on research, assessment and data-informed decision- making.
Successful implementation of programs for a diverse student population, and evidence of successful college-wide collaborations.
Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and proven leadership skills. Be a dynamic individual who can work independently and under general supervision to provide courteous and accurate customer service to all students, visitors, and campus community.
Be involved or have been involved in professional associations.
Proficiency in various software programs, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work evening hours and weekends as necessary.
SALARY: $47,340 to $68,351
