8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position has the responsibility for managing maintenance and efficient utilization for the College’s academic departments, programs, centers, and support units located in sixteen buildings.
The position requires the demonstration of skill, knowledge, and the expertise to identify and communicate service needs for the College’s academic buildings, labs, and specialized lab equipment to the University’s Maintenance Operations Department and Academic Affairs Facilities Operation, as well as working with Academic Affairs, the Registrar’s Office and the AISLE team to support effective classroom utilization within the College .
The position requires the demonstration of skill, knowledge, and the expertise to identify and communicate service needs for the College’s academic buildings, labs, and specialized lab equipment to the University’s Maintenance Operations Department and Academic Affairs Facilities Operation, as well as working with Academic Affairs, the Registrar’s Office and the AISLE team to support effective classroom utilization within the College .
The position will serve as a liaison between faculty, department chairs, unit Research Operations Specialists, Academic Affairs Facilities Operations staff, other academic stakeholders, and Facilities Management in order to:
(1) Provide consultation on facility concerns/issues to facilitate prompt, targeted remediation;
(2) Support planning and execution of renovation projects within the College. Position will also support space and facility planning in the College; and
(3) Support planning and development for effective and efficient use of teaching, research, student, and office space in the College.
The primary areas of responsibility are:
- Meeting with academic stakeholders to review repair and renovation needs.
- Communicating and serving as facilities contact for repairs and maintenance with the Academic Affairs Facilities Operations Office and the University’s Maintenance Operations Department.
- Meeting with academic stakeholders to develop future use plans, and perform routine building visits to identify repair and maintenance needs.
- Collaborating with College academic facility stakeholders and the Academic Affairs Facilities Operations Office to develop efficient and effective ways to service and maintain academic space and specialized equipment.
- Meeting with the academic and staff stakeholders in the College administrative officers and staff to plan space renovations and to develop and execute plans for effective and efficient space utilization in the College.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties
- The primary manager of academic facilities operations for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- The position has responsibility for requesting and assisting with requests for service, maintenance, and repair activities, supporting the planning and completion of building projects, and oversight for maintaining efficient space utilization for 21 academic departments and multiple programs, centers, and support units in the College, located in 15 academic buildings.
- The position utilizes skills, knowledge, and expertise to identify and communicate service needs and will provide consultation on facility concerns to academic stakeholders, facilitate prompt, targeted remediation, and participate in successful planning and completion of building projects via the University’s Facilities Management Division and Academic Facilities Operations Office.
- The position will also plan for and manage efficient and effective utilization of space in the College.
- The position will develop and maintain collaborative work relationships with both academic stakeholders and Facilities Management personnel.
- Responsible for meeting with academic stakeholders to review repair and renovation needs.
- Communicate and serve as facilities contact for repairs and maintenance with the Academic Affairs Facilities Operations Office and the University’s Maintenance Operations Department.

Other Work Responsibilities
- On occassion, oversee long term investigations and solution development processes for chronic facility issues.
- Lead working groups for solution development in strategic space utilization and/or maintenance service areas, as needed.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Graduation from a four-year college or university, and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.
- Prior experience working in academic facility maintenance or operations at institutions of higher education, including but not limited to community colleges and/or private or public universities is preferred.
- Experience developing and implementing successful maintenance and operation plans or strategies at other institutions is highly desired.
- 3-5 years of experience working in related areas of assignment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is desired.
