As a lead developer for a reference and market data application, s/he will help design, develop and support the market data systems application to meet new business needs. She/he will be hands on (Java, Shell, Perl, UNIX/Linux/Solaris, SQL ) and provide technical direction to an off shore development team. . S/he must have knowledge about the functions and features of modern and traditional methods for developing distributed applications. With the offshore team, s/he will translate user requirements to systems & data requirements, design system and data flows; construct program specifications; instruct off shore developers to understand requirements and help test changes. For production support, s/he must be experienced at resolving hardware, software, data and communications malfunctions and understand the business impact of resolving such complications.
The job holder leads the technical design, development and documentation of cross-functional, multi-platform distributed application systems. S/he analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, and logical processes and interfaces with other systems. S/he also ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved by coordinating, coding, testing, implementation and documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum 6 - 8 years experience required. Job holder must have extensive knowledge of company's total computing environment, including all key IT functions, interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Extensive experience with developing and supporting distributed applications required. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.
- Software development expert with proven software design & implementation track record.
- Hands on software development experience required in Java, Shell, Perl, UNIX/Linux/Solaris, SQL, relational databases (Oracle is a plus). C++ is a plus. Web services experience (Weblogic, Websphere) is a plus.
- Past experience working with Informatica is a plus.
- Understanding of Market Data, especially building curves and vol surfaces.
- Past experience architecting solutions for Market or Credit Risk systems and knowledge of financial instruments are a plus.
- Experience developing, managing, and utilizing information repositories are required. Past experience with Sungard's reference and market data vendor products is a plus.
- Detail oriented with strong written, verbal and organizational skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Knowledgeable of the SDLC (software development life cycle) and related methodologies.
