Filing Responsibilities:

  • Identify and file all required holdings (Bonds, Stocks, RSAT’s and OIA’s) in accordance with the Se! curities Valuation Office (SVO) Purposes and Procedures Manual ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Attend NAIC National Meetings to ensure TIAA’s compliance with emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain database of all holdings requiring annual filings and ensure filings are completed timely.
  • Coordinate the delivery of monthly SVO rating and pricing files.
  • Correspond with portfolio managers to obtain all documentation required for SVO filings.
Valuation Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the ongoing modeling and pricing of public and private bond holdings including the development of current return requirements based on issuer’s credit profile.
  • Assist the review of third party pricing to determine reasonableness and challenge vendor assumptions with supporting market data resulting in updated vendor pricing.
  • Conduct variance analyses of portfolio valuations.
  • Assist in the development an! d maintenance of processes and procedures that meet the requir! ed level of controls, while delivering well supported valuations and identifying credit losses, as required for the respective accounts.
Qualifications

Required Skills:
  • 0 to 2 years of experience.
  • General understanding of debt and equity markets and valuations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required. Position requires extensive use of Excel functions such as pivot tables, lookup functions. Familiarity with other database functions (i.e. MS Access) a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must have excellent writing skills to communicate complicated financial concepts and be able to effectively communicate with company front, middle and back office business units, along with third parties such as brokers and market pricing vendors.
  • Possess strong time management skills and an ability to work independently.
Desired Skills:
  • E! xisting knowledge of and experience with Bloomberg, third party evaluations, NAIC AVS Application, CGS CUSIP Access and SVO Purposes and Procedures Manual a plus.
