Senior Failure Analysis (Material) Engineer

Description

This position is for a night shift Failure Analysis Engineer/Technician in the Material Analysis lab within GLOBALFOUNDRIES new 300mm fab in Malta, New York. The successful applicant will work with the SIMS team using Cameca based instrumentation to assist in device qualification and understanding fabrication issues.

The specific areas of expertise must include an in depth knowledge of the operation and application of Cameca based magnetic sector SIMS as well as commonly used methodologies applied in quantification and dosimetry. An understanding of semiconductor fabrication principles is also expected.

Aside from day to day data collection, processing and reporting, the applicant will plan and lead projects by identifying and organizing activities in a time effective manner. The applicant will also be expected to work effectively/productively with all departments by developing a positive team atmosphere.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Analysis of samples, processing of data and report preparation for equipment and process qualifications
  • Resource owner responsible for equipment upkeep and proactively scheduling maintenance as needed
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of analytical resources (include off-site as needed) to ensure rapid and accurate results for the manufacturing ramp
  • Identification of optimum analytical approaches to critical fab problems
  • Innovation in the use of new analytical tools, equipment, and methodologies
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related area
  • Minimum 3-5 years of technical engineering experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years SIMS operation and data interpretation experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a global matrixed team environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency of MS office programs
  • U.S. national, or a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a wide range of analytical techniques
  • Experience in advanced technology development
  • Experience in product, integration, process, or reliability engineering is a bonus
