Position is responsible for supervising 18-25 Field Technicians in the Cable Maintenance group - copper cable trouble shooting and restoral. Dispatching technicians o! n customer circuits, business and residential for restoral. Requires ability to communicate, direct, observe, oversee, support and assist technician team completing their tasks. Daily interaction with Verizon customers, supervisor peer group, dispatch resource center, area manager and union delegates. Can entail construction of new cable network, supporting Fiber and or Copper splicing for FTTP, FTTC, Hi Bandwidth, and CORE type builds. Responsible for conducting field inspections, quality reviews, safety observations, and daily field visits to identify /remove roadblocks. Candidate will manage assigned daily work load of trouble ticket reports or engineering work orders/builds with his/her team of technicians insuring timely completion, satisfactory productivity in both a safe and quality manner. Additionally, this candidate will work to complete these trouble tickets or scheduled builds with a sense of urgency and or by the due dates provided. Update's and status of progr! ess is a requirement. The position also requires tracking and ! analyzing of the individual performance, productivity and quality of work performed by technicians assigned to them. This position is accountable for all aspects of training, development and compliance to corporate safety policies, in addition to highly specialized equipment. Requirements also may include weekend rotational "on call" and extended hours. Candidate must be willing and able to work holidays and weekends, as needed on occasion, supporting trouble ticket load, program or emergencies.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in field operations (Splice, Line or I&M).
- Candidate should possess strong communication skills, be well organized and able to motivate employees to exceed service objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Can work well in a team environment, one whereby mutual respect and support is paramount to success of the team.
- Experience in reading and interpreting engi! neering / construction work prints, telecom plats and schematics.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience supervising union employees with the ability to negotiate.
