MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST

POSITION INFORMATION : Medical Billing Specialist (primary care out-patient health care, medical/clinical setting). CPC / Certified Professional Coder certification is a p! lus but not required.
SCHEDULE: Full-t ime, 40 hours work week, Monday through Friday (approximatel y) 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
QUALIFICATIONS: One year of minimum work experience as a Medical B iller is required .
POSITION SUMMARY: * Knowledge of HIPPA regulations, as well as, knowledge of the processes associated with the billing of government agencies is a requirement. Knowledge of medical billing procedures and Microsoft office applications is necessary. The position requires excellent communication skills to develop strong, positive and professional working relationships with Providers, agency Directors, agency staff, departmental staff and related government agencies. Possess strong accounting and organizational skills to effectively manage and maintain systems and processes associated with the position. Maintain strict adherence to regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures.Knowledge of basic accounting princ! iples. Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets is also essential. Subm! it billing through an Electronic Data Interface or a Web Based system is required. Management of the appeal and denial process and subsequent follow up. Maintenance of all billing related documentation to insure accuracy of billing in strict compliance with Corporate Compliance policies, agency Policies & Procedures, and departmental Policies & Procedures. Medicaid Waiver billing and other accounting responsibilities as assigned and/or required. Coordination with other finance staff for proper financial reporting of billing and cash receipts. Administrative and clerical responsibilities as needed to include copying and filing. The position reports directly to the Accounts Receivable and Consumer Benefits Manager.
