Job Opportunity: The Clarion Hotel Oneonta is l! ocated in downtown Oneonta NY . The hotel is seeking a dynamic Culinary Chef to open the hotelâs restaurant. This is a working chefâs position with daily à la carte food preparation and regular front of the house exposure to meet and greet with the local patrons and hotel guests. The atmosphere is smart casual, with an upscale eclectic menu.
Job Requirements: - A progressive track record of culinary accomplishments.
- Strong à la carte culinary skills.
- Culinary degree or apprenticeship.
- Prior experience in establishments of similar quality and style.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of NYS Health Codes.
- Serve Safe Certification (will be required).

The Clarion Hotel is the newest full-service hotel in Historic Downtown Oneonta. Our Premier Lodging Facility offers spacious guest rooms and suites with luxury amenities uncompromised in the area, such as Jacuzzi's, fireplaces, refrigerators, recliners, dual showerheads, business class roo! ms with oversized work areas and ergonomic chair. Standard amenities include two 2-line speaker telephones with data port, 32â flat panel television, in room coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, task lighting, alarm clock radio and voice mail.
Oneontaâs neighboring city of Cooperstown , just 20 minutes away, offers the best-known sports shrine in the world, the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
The Hotel is part of a portfolio of nine properties, owned and operated by a closely held Central New York Hospitality Company.
The Broad Street Grill is located on the ground floor of new Clarion Hotel and has itâs own exterior entrance. The Grill is richly appointed with dark cherry wood accents. It features three separate Dining Rooms along with a Pub.
The Hearth Dining Room seats 36 people and features a beautiful cherry paneled fireplace as its focal point.
The Patio Dining Room is quaint, seating 12 and opens direc! tly on to the outside Dining Patio.
The Library, which feature! s a 20-foot bookcase wall and see-through fireplace, comfortably seats 16.
The Pub features a see-through fireplace and seats 18.
The Grill serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service daily as well as brunch on Sundays.
âNew American Cuisineâ is prepared to order using only the freshest, high quality ingredients. Entrées are creatively presented in the center of the plate.
The ambiance is rich and warm yet casual with service that is unpretentiously attentive and relaxed.
The efficient kitchen features all new equipment including flat top griddle, charcoal broiler, infra red double broiler, steamer, convection oven, sauté station and hot top.
The Grillâs Mission is to become the premier eating establishment in our market. The presence of the Grill will play a significant role in the decisions of prospective guests to choose the Clarion for their lodging choice.
Scope of Job: - Manage, supervi! se and train all food production staff.
- Prep and prepare à la carte entrées and desserts.
- Purchase food.
- Prepare recipes and presentations.
- Provide input for seasonal menu changes.
- Meet and greet patrons.
- Instill safety and sanitation habits to all food production staff.
- Train and instill the importance of quality, consistency and presentation.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment upkeep.
- Complete a physical inventory per standard intervals.
- Achieve desired food cost and labor cost goals.
- Schedule kitchen staff.
- Hire, train, supervise, discipline all food production staff.
- Closely communicate daily with Waitstaff to inform them on preparation of menu items.
- Participate in management meetings.
- Create a courteous friendly professional work environment.
