KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES: The Credentialing Program Assistant position is located in the office of the Chief of Staff/Credentialing and Privileging Program (C&P) at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System, Montrose, NY. Employee must be willing to travel between Montrose and Castle Point campuses. Duties include but are not limited to:

Providing a wide range of administrative and technical support to the Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) Program;

Knowing of state licensure and medical specialty board requirements;

Receiving, reviewing and processing all applications for clinical privileges;

Receiving, verifying, processing and forwarding completed verification documentation to the Human Resources Office;

Responding to inquiries from outside agencies;

Making contacts by telephone, electronically, scripted and personally with professional, technical, administrative and support personnel;

Providing purchasing, general account payable a! nd debt collection functions;

Utilizing interviewing and inves! tigative techniques to facilitate the collection and analysis of information related to education, training and experience records;

Serving as timekeeper, as needed;

Serving as back-up administrator for the office;

Performing other related duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday through Friday

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
REQUIRES:
The ability to type 40 words or more per minute.

AND

REQUIRES: One (1) year of specialized experience performing administrative duties in a medical/healthcare environment that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Examples of experience may include: establishing and maintaining credentialing and privileging files; collecting and compiling data; knowledge of state licensure and medical special! ty board requirements; basic interviewing and investigative techniques to facilitate the collection and analysis of information related to education, training, and experience records; and preparing a variety reports and correspondence. To be creditable, specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in federal service. To receive credit for these skills they must be documented in your resume.

You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

1. Experience with Credentialing and Privileging.

2. Ability to effectively deal with individuals through verbal communication.

3. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

4. Ability to organize and plan the activities of an office.

5. Ability to review written material for compliance with rule of correspondence and grammar.

6. Knowledge o! f and skill in the use of PC based administrative support software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work is primarily in an office setting, requiring occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light objects such as files and books. Incumbent encounters emotional stress in working with sensitive data in a politically and professionally charged environment.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:

Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the po! sition;

Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;

Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and

Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.

After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group.
