Primary responsibilities include oversight of the academic advisement for the Brooklyn, New York location, a diverse population of students that include, but are not limited to: first time freshmen, students on academic probation, transfer students, and undergraduate students seeking advisement about their curriculum and graduation requirements. The Dean will develop a communication flow with the other departments that contributes to the success of our students and ensures effective and efficient service of new and continuing students. The Dean will be responsible for creating and cultivating a student-centered atmosph! ere among staff members.
The Dean provides oversight and t! raining of Academic Advisors, develops and maintains information and written correspondence/presentations used to advise students, assists in facilitating advisement services for all undergraduate students including course planning, registration, enrollment reports, and conducts ongoing hands-on advisement/registration training to students and staff.
The person in this position will be expected to demonstrate high levels of motivation, attentiveness to details, good communication, and team relations with professional and support staff as well as with other offices and staff across campus. Other responsibilities include consistent, accurate, and timely information in advisement as well as the maintenance of student records.
o Educational Requirements:
 Master’s Degree Required
o Training and/or Experience:
 3 - 5 years of experience in a Higher Education setting
 3 years of supervisory experience
 Advising exp! erience
o Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office
 Excellent oral and written communication skills
 Experience in PeopleSoft a plus
 Teaching in higher education
