Possess strong communication skills, market and product knowledge, and a balance of analytical and creative abilities to posit! ively affect the bottom-line profit of his/her area.
Strong understanding of global market place, key competitors, and AE brand positioning within the global landscape.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish seasonal strategic plans for sales, markdowns, inventory, and growth opportunities.
- Work in conjunction with Planner to manage the OTB in season as it relates to receipts, sales, margin, markdowns, and WOS.
- Effectively and efficiently lead business meetings/calls.
- Engage in weekly sales calls with the license partner to ensure inventory management is being handled properly; gain an understanding of best/worst sellers.
- Suggest weekly/monthly/seasonal promotions for your area of responsibi! lity to help drive additional volume or clear through slow inv! entory. Plan 1 year in advance, re-working on a monthly basis based on business trend.
- Create strategic merchandise flow plan and cadence which aligns with US floor set dates yet is also seasonally relevant in each market.
- Create seasonal market-specific pricing analysis with recommendations to adjust as necessary.
- Communicate daily with the US merchandising team as it relates to off cycle buys and product line changes.
- Feedback license business style requests to design, merchandising, and production teams seasonally with supporting data.
- Active participate in seasonal US coordination â" clearly articulating business requirements which deviate from the US strategy.
- Review seasonal hindsight prepared by the license teams, have calls to review the results and adjust OTB accordingly.
- ! Manage annual calendar of key planning and merchandising milestone dates for both AE and Aerie; ensure all licensees adhere to key dates.
- Work in conjunction with International Merchandising team to execute a seasonal International coordination. Participate in strategy reviews and buy reviews.
- Grow and develop the assistant buyerâs skill set.
- Bachelorâs Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or equivalent.
- Prior buying experience from a specialty or department store, international experience preferred.
- Keen sense of fashion exhibited through personal taste.
- Understanding of fashion designer labels and how to interpret their seasonal stories/messages for the AE customer globally.
- Excellent analytical and creative skills to challenge the planning and design sides of the organization.
- Forward Thinking/Innovative â" Not satisfied with the status quo, ahead of the times! , advanced views, creating something like nothing done or experienced b! efore.
- Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy (coolness and composure under strain, confidence without arrogance).
