Claims Examiner (ProSpeciality)


 

Job Purpose

Fast track position dealing directly with storage facilities and certificate holders to investigate and resolve property damage claims.

ARM works in the contiguous 48 states handling claims including personal property damage claims for insureds that store their items in a storage unit and have an active insurance policy with the carrier.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Initiate the investigation of new claims

· Make coverage decisions based on the Named Peril Policies

· Evaluate settlements of personal property damage, liability claims, and subrogation of claims as appropriate.

· Establish contact with the courts or police regarding restitution as a result of an arrest.

· Establish contact with the insured , storage facility, and apartment complex contact within established protocol.

· Recognize coverage issues and bring them to the attention of the supervisor.

· Develop basic understanding of all entities under this program and their corresponding certificates and policies.

· Recognize state specific laws and claims regulations throughout the United States to ensure proper compliance in claims investigation including sending and securing proper documentation.

· Respond to time sensitive material including but not limited to department of insurance complaints.

· Manage a diary system to systematically review and resolve claims within the specified state and client compliance guidelines.

· Maintain state license by completing continuing education coursework and/or work towards a claims designation.

· Other duties as assigned by the claims supervisor.

Desired Skills/Expertise

· Use of clear, rational, thinking supported by evidence submitted by the insureds for their claims.

· Strong writing skills and proper use of grammar to prepare written coverage reports for the carrier. Document claim file notes clearly with all communications and activities that occur during handling of the claim using factual and objective information.

· Ability to plan and exercise conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred

Computer Skills

· Experience with Excel

· Experience with a variety of insurance policies a plus

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

You will be required to obtain all state licenses in which ARM operates.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
