The Gelson’s Markets Meat & Seafood Clerk’s primary responsibility is to weigh, wrap, package and price mark all meat, seafood and related products according to meat department standards. The Meat & Seafood Clerk will also stock the meat and seafood items as assigned. Although not necessary, experience working in a meat and/or seafood department is a plus. Gelson’s Markets is well known for our quality meat & seafood products.
As a Gelson’s Markets Meat & Seafood Clerk, you will be first in line to ensure product quality by regular rotation on stocked product, verifying refrigeration temperatures and following all department standards. The Meat & Seafood Clerk may also be required to lift up to 55 pounds by carrying cartons of poultry and cases of meat & seafood products.
As a Gelson’s Markets Meat & Seafood Clerk, you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service, attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelson’s Markets is mandatory. The Gelson’s Meat & Seafood Clerk must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
All meat department positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.
Physical requirements:
- Hand manipulation requirements to include, simple grasping, power grasping, pushing and pulling and fine manipulation.
- Reaching above and at shoulder level
- Walking and standing up to 7 hours per shift
- Frequent lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Driving moving equipment (Forklift and pallet jack)
- Working near hazardous equipment (Band saw, grinder, knives)
- Exposure to noise
- Exposure to extremes in temperature (coolers and freezer)
- Working at height
The pay rate for this position is $18.48 - $20.25
