The Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University has an immediate opening for a research software developer with strong programming background. The successful applicant will develop web-based applications to operationalize clinical research workflow. This exciting position is open to applicants who are interested in applying their computer skills to add lightweight clinical research features to electronic health records. Responsibilities include software requirements specification, software design and testing, clinical research workflow analysis, and writing or facilitating team members to write scholarly papers about the software performance and findings. The sofware developer will collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers to innovate new EHR features to accelerate clinical research.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Requires a Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, computer engineering, information science, biomedical informatics or a related field, plus three years of related experience.
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a full background check prior to a final offer of employment being made.
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Strong communication and programming skills; web program development experience using Java, Python, C#, ASP.NET, Ajax, or other related languages for a least five years; relational database management experience. Must be detail-oriented and responsive to project deadlines. Must be perceptive of things and events that are meaningful to the performance of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in statistics, computer science, computer engineering, information science, biomedical informatics or a related field preferred.
